Ag Faire Uirthi - Watching Over Her
This piece doesn't come from a named cycle or tradition. It is based on the selkie, a rón (seal) that can turn into a human by removing its seal skin.
In folklore, a man hides a selkie's skin so she has to stay as his wife, until she finds it again many years later and slips straight back into the sea. I drew this one watching her sister from the water, and if you look closely, you'll see her sister's reflection in her eye, waving back from the shore. I keep wondering what's really going on between them.
