Giorria - Hare

My Giorria, hare, drawing comes from the Fenian Cycle, the same stories that gave us Fionn Mac Cumhaill.

I started this piece from a hare I drew years ago for a friend's tattoo, then wove a Celtic knot through it, something I'd been playing with on another drawing.

In the story, Oisín wounds a hare while hunting and follows its blood trail to a hall inside an ancient mound, finding a young woman with the same wound in her leg. He vows never to eat a hare again.
