Bodhrán

I used to think the bodhrán was ancient, but it's only a few generations old. That actually disappointed me at first, until I watched a documentary on its history and came round to it.

Learning to play it myself, even briefly, showed me something else too, how instrumental your hand is in the sound, shifting the tone depending on where it sits on the skin. That's what the line art on the drum captures.
