Uaithne, Dagda's Harp

Uaithne is the Dagda's harp, from the Mythological Cycle, one of the four cycles of Irish mythology. It surprised me how far back this harp goes, fadó, fadó (a long time ago), especially since it's still such a recognised symbol of Ireland today.

The Dagda played it before battle, and when it was stolen he summoned it back through the air, then used its music to turn his enemies from laughter to tears to sleep.

There's more on how he won it back, and a good discovery about the music, over on my blog.
