Chough t-shirt
This Chough (pronounced ‘chuff’) is one of my Birds of Ireland series. Did you know that it was believed that King Arthur didn’t actually die in his final battle but instead he turned into a chough. I love finding these little nuggets of hidden folklore!
It is more associated with Cornwall than Ireland, it is even on the Cornish flag and used to be so common there it was known as the Cornish Chough. Sadly, the population there died out in 1973 but thanks to three choughs that flew over from Ireland there is now a tiny population back in the far west of Cornwall.
